Almost in Portugal

Hi All

I’m back home after a great week in Portugal where I played some great golf. I felt good all week. Matt Belsham my coach worked with me on the Monday and I flew to Portugal on Tuesday. I played a golf day for my new sponsor numero and it was great to play with Tyrrell Hatton. He has a good swing and has a great chance of making it out here.

I played great on days 1 and 2 in the Portugal Masters and I did at the weekend, the only difference was my putting. Nothing dropped all weekend, it was so frustrating. I don’t get angry on the golf course but I almost did on Sunday. In the end I finished 15th but it should have been so much more. That’s Golf sometimes but it doesn’t matter what level you play at, its still the greatest and most frustrating game in the world to play!

So I’m home this week before heading back out to Iberia to play the Valderrama Masters, a great course and a great event. I can’t wait!

Take care
Simon

Almost at Hilversum GC

Hi Folks.

I’m home now after the KLM Open where I played some great golf on Day 1 and 2 of this great tournament. I love the course, it reminds me so much of Wentworth. You have to be dead eyed straight in order to score and bar Saturday I pretty much was all week. I came up short and I was delighted that Dys won in the end. He’s a great bloke and in the form of his life.

I am genuinely pleased with my game at the moment and I look forward immensely to the Dunhill Links Championships coming up in a couple of weeks. I will practice on links courses before hand and I can’t wait to play up there. During my time off I will be paying a golf day for Computacenter and catching up on my admin.

So catch up soon, might see you at the Dunhill and good luck to Jamie Donaldson and all the GB&I boys this week in the Seve Trophy

Cheers
Simon

Just not quite enough in Crans

Hi All,

Loved the place, loved the atmosphere but sadly couldn’t really love my game this week. Some great stuff but a few silly mistakes cost me bad and I missed the weekend. I worked hard this week but sometimes the putts don’t drop and you have to move on. This week I’m in Holland at the KLM Open, a big event and one I intend to compete in and produce a great result.

Tough week up at Gleneagles

Last week was a mixed bag to say the least up at the Johnnie Walker Championships. I played some great golf but a few holes sadly meant I missed the cut. The last three holes I came home birdie birdie birdie so I have some positives to take forward into this week at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.

Last week I welcomed my new sponsor, numero, to Gleneagles. Guy Colclough, their CEO and owner brought up his marketing and video team to shoot a series of films which will shortly be available here on my website. Guy is a visionary in the social media software industry and I am delighted to be associated with his company.

So onwards to the mountains of Switzerland I go, looking for a big week... whilst trying to forget what happened to my beloved Arsenal on the weekend.

Enjoy your golf!

Return to form in Paris

Hi All, greetings from Orly airport where I'm on my way home after my best week on the Tour this year.

The course at Le Golf National, named the Albatross course ( the others are the Birdie and Par) was awesome. A brilliant arena, a tough test of golf and a fantastic venue for fans.

I played solid all week and had to dig deep to make the cut on occasions but I got through comfortably in the end. The weekend was good and I progressed up the leader board. I got close to the win but just came back in the last 3 to T5th with Richie Ramsey.

So onto Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness for the Barclays Scottish Open. It looks a great track and I can't wait to play it. Let's hope the form continues

Til next time!

Simon

Greetings from France

Hi All,

Greetings from the beautiful city of Paris, can't wait for the French Open this week.

I'm playing better now, last week I was strong off the tee and my irons were solid. On the weekend whilst playing well the putts simply didn't drop. It happens, the key is to take the good form into this week and be patient and those putts will drop.

Next week we go to Scotland and then it's the Open do a busy month of Golf and I aim to power up the Race to Dubai standings.

So take care and keep an eye out for Team Khan!

Play well at your home courses

Cheers,
Simon

Mixed emotions in the Usk Valley

Hi All, I’m now at home preparing for the series of Golf Days I have planned for my main sponsor, Computacenter. I really look forward to them as I have known Mike and the team there for seven years and they are great people.

Last week was good for me because I played better and more consistent golf. My swing was more stable and I holed more putts, so better and 37th was no disaster!. However, being the person I am I won’t be resting on my laurels, we will continue to work hard to get my game back to where it should be.

I love this time of year, The French, the Scottish and then The Open Championship ....just love it!

Hope you handicaps are moving south
Enjoy your golf!

Sadly no repeat of last year

Well my favourite week of the year has come and gone. Sadly for me after 2 days but I was really encouraged with my play on Friday. I felt it clicked and I am now focused on taking that through 4 days starting at Wales this week. I am a former Champion so I want to do well there.

Thanks to you all for visiting Wentworth and sharing in my defence of the Title. It meant a lot to myself and Lesley so thanks again.

All the best
Simon

It’s almost here....Wentworth

Hi All, greetings from Essex where I am preparing to defend my BMW PGA Championship. This week I’ve been down at Royal St George’s getting used to that fantastic course and working on my short game. I’ve also being working with my charity, Orchid promoting their work in cancer treatment.

Next week is going to be huge, I cannot wait to get there, I love the course and the atmosphere and very much hope to defend my title in the best possible way. It’s not going to be easy but in life nothing is. All I will do is concentrate on my game and give it 150%.

I hope you can make it down and watch the golf if not settle down on the sofa at home and enjoy this great tournament

All the best
Simon

Spanish Double Header then a week off before Wentworth!

Hi All, I’m here in Barcelona preparing for the Spanish Open. It’s a great course and I really like it so let’s hope for a good week. During my time off I took the family to Dubai for 10 days which was great and then returned home to start some hard graft on my game with my coach Matt Belsham. In between I shot a video for European Tour Weekly at my home course of Chingford. That was special to show the golfing world where it all began for me.

So it’s back to the day job now for the next two weeks with two tournaments over here in Spain. Next week is Mallorca but for now its Barcelona and the Spanish Open. See you all soon and I hope at Wentworth

Cheers
Simon

Simon and a Golf World prize

BE DEFENDING CHAMPION’S BAGMAN IN BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP PRO-AM

Golf World has teamed up with TaylorMadeadidas Golf to offer one reader the opportunity to caddie for defending champion Simon Khan in the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am over the West Course at Wentworth.

The winner will get the chance to mix with the stars in the prestigious event. Khan won last year’s title with a six-under score, beating Luke Donald to the European Tour’s biggest prize. You’ll be charged with carrying Khan’s bag, giving
him the correct yardages, cleaning his clubs and helping him read the greens as he plots his way around the redesigned West Course.

Afterwards, you will be invited to the Pro-Am prize-giving dinner, where you will rub shoulders with players and
celebrities. The winner will also be interviewed and photographed for an article in Golf World.

Before you enter, there are a handful of things to be aware of:

  • You need to make your own way to Wentworth for an early start on Wednesday, May 25.
  • TaylorMade can cover accommodation and meals on the day.
  • A pro’s Tour bag can weigh up to 50lb, soif you intend to carry it for 18 holes, you need to be fairly fit.
  • However, an electric trolley can be supplied, and Simon’s regular caddie, Stan Mercer, will also be on hand to help.
  • The closing date for entries is Thursday, May 19; there is no option for postal entries for this particular competition.

To stand a chance of winning, answer this simple question correctly:

What was Simon Khan’s winning score in the 2010 BMW PGA Championship?

A: Six under
B: Five under
C: Seven under

Southern Med Swing

I’m two weeks into the current swing of tournaments. The first event was Sicily, a very interesting place, albeit somewhat in the middle of nowhere and the travel arrangements weren’t easy. I played well in Sicily, aspects of my game that I have been working on started to improve. My putting, my short game (with Pete Cowen) and my swing (Matt Belsham) all performed well. The final 9 holes was awesome with a 4 under coming home taking me to 21st for the Tournament and a solid finish.

We had a storm delay and so finished 2.5hrs later than planned ....it was then a massive rush to the airport to make my flight back to Rome and then onto London. I got to the airport with 25 minutes to go before departure and managed to get on the flight....that pleased me and meant I would get home to see my family.

After 48hrs at home I travelled down to Malaga to Miguel Angel’s tournament. Regrettably I didn’t stay around for the weekend. My game was patchy and at this level you get punished for mistakes. However, the improvements in my game have given me confidence going into Morocco this week. Finally, well played Paul Lawrie, a top man and a great win.

On another matter, I was pleased that John my manager brought along Rich Rawlins from Finn Communications to Malaga who will be handling the PR for the Charity day I will be running in the City of London for Orchid, the Testicular and Prostate cancer charity I support. More on this soon.

Look after yourselves
Simon

Desert Swing completed

I'm off to Qatar and Dubai to play in two great tournaments, I cannot wait to get out there and play. I've made some slight changes to my game under the guidance of my coaches so I am looking forward to feeling the affect of those changes out on Tour. Qatar was a tough track and I didn't play great but in Dubai there were signs of improvement which at this time of year is good to see.

My schedule for 2011 is not finalised yet but I will be defending my PGA title at Wentworth in May and playing in the Open Championship in July. You can keep a close track of my schedule on the website as it develops throughout the year.
